Support Samoya's Rehabilitation Journey
Donation protected
My name is Samoya Hoilett, I'm 25 years old, and on July 29th, my life changed completely when I suffered a stroke that left me unable to speak and paralyzed on the right side of my body.
Since then, l've undergone numerous MRIs, CT scans, blood tests, and EKGs at Beth Israel Medical Center and Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Boston. Despite the best efforts of my doctors, the cause of the stroke remains unknown.
I'm currently in occupational, speech, and physical therapy, doing everything I can to recover-to walk, to talk, to laugh again. My goal is simple: to return to the vibrant, independent life I had before this.
Unfortunately, my journey has hit a serious financial roadblock. My insurance company is no longer covering my inpatient rehabilitation at Spaulding, leaving me with two difficult choices:
Continue rehab as an outpatient and hire a private nurse-which is unaffordable as I don't have family nearby in Boston.
Return home to Jamaica, where most of my family lives, and enroll in a rehabilitation facility there.
Right now, returning to Jamaica is the most viable option. However, rehabilitation costs $150 USD
per day, not including medications and medical supplies like adult diapers.
So I'm reaching out to you-friends, family, kind strangers-for help.
Your donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward:
Daily rehabilitation costs
Essential medications
Medical supplies
Supportive care
I'm willing to fight. I want to walk again. I want to speak again. I want to live a full, joyful life filled with the experiences every 25-year-old deserves.
Please help me get there. Every bit of support brings me one step closer to healing.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Samoya Hoilett.
