Support Sammy's Surgery

This fundraiser is to pay for surgery for my dog, Sammy. He needs surgery to remove two tumors under his tail.

Sammy came into my life 11 years ago, and has been my constant companion. I have loved and cared for a lot of dogs in my life, but our bond is somehow deeper. He has helped me through some challenging times. We've traveled, hiked and played all over the Northern California beaches and redwoods. He had a rough beginning, but now he makes friends wherever he goes.

It's that smile.

If we could delay longer to save up for the surgery, we would but the tumors are around his anus, and are beginning to affect his stool production. Our veterinarian insisted on an echocardiogram before scheduling surgery, so we've already waited over a month. Thankfully his heart is strong, just some age-related changes. We've spent over $1500 on exams and diagnostics to be ready for the surgery. (This is after $2000+ of veterinary care earlier this year for our other older dog, who had severe arthritis and other joint issues. We decided it was kindest to say goodbye to her in April.) Sam's surgical estimate is $2500. Thankfully, we have found a low-cost veterinary practice.

I am so grateful that Sammy's surgery will most likely be curative. The vet will send samples for testing, so we'll will find out if the tumors are benign or malignant. My fingers are crossed, hoping for the best. Sammy's buddy Pippin hopes he'll be back to his beach shenanigans soon!
