Support Sammy's Fight Against Leukemia

Hi everyone I am Pamela, and I am baby Sammy's grandma, our family is asking for everyone's prayers, help and support to cover current & future expenses.

Sammy's story:

We missed the signs, we had no idea what was happening inside little Sammy's little body for the last couple of months. We started noticing bruises.... but he is a little feisty 19 month old. Boys get bruises!

But these bruises started to look different so dark and purple, and they showed up out of nowhere. He would catch cold after cold like all kids do, but he had a harder time getting over them all of the way but he would get over them.

NEVER, in our wildest imagination would we ever be in the emergency room in the morning on 8/27/25 hearing the words I am so sorry but his blood work is off and we believe this is " CANCER " wait what !!!!!???????

HOW, is this possible that my cute little happy & feisty 19 month old grandson has Leukemia, he's just a baby ????? Sammy was rushed from one hospital to Brenner Childrens hospital where we were praying still that it wasn't true, it must be something else, anything else, please GOD!

Just a few weeks ago he was playing in the pool, playing with Dutch his favorite dog, playing with trucks, smiling and laughing and now he is fighting for his life !!!!

I've watched the St. Jude commercials and cried for the families, I donate to them every year and never ever wanted to imagine what this actually would feel like.

Well, I can tell you that the initial shock made my entire body shake, tears poured out from eyes of uncontrollably. I felt my heart physically breaking, the pain so intense, my head spinning from what is happening.

This poor baby is too young to understand anything at all, why am I here, why are they poking me with so many needles, the terrible thoughts as I can only try to imagine what he's thinking and feeling. Who are these people and why do I hurt SO BAD !!!

**CPS gave me custody of my 2 grandsons on 8/28/25 due to concerns over their care, just 1 day after Sammy was diagnosed with A.L.L Leukemia ( high risk B cell type )

Conner is almost 4 years old and level 2 autistic and now Sammy has Leukemia..

I was empty nesting for the last 2 years ( 4 grown adult kids) , and now trying to buy all the needs for these 2 kids, trying to find help at home ( which medicaid is all Red tape) Home care is minimum $22.00-$35.00 an hour !!! Who can afford that???? Sammy will have to be at the hospital all day 2 days a week for chemotherapy, labs, and doctor visits. Im still not sure how to keep a 4 year old autistic child entertained at the hospital all day ?!?!?!?!?!?

To say this has been the scariest roller coaster I have been on is an understatement. I am not married and I do not have family near except for my grown kids who are all trying to help the best they can with their own lives.

What has happened in the first few weeks:

Sammy was admitted to Brenner's Childrens Hospital, now diagnosed with A.L.L Leukemia ( which thankfully is the better one to have) if that even seems like a fair thing at all.

Sammy also has Tumor Lysis which causes his Red blood cells to burst and fill his body with Uric Acid which causes all of the systems to not work properly. They are treating the uric acid with medicine, but all of that is causing his kidneys to work harder. His platelets were a 7 ( normal is 150-450), his hemoglobin also dangerously low, his has received 4 blood transfusions, and platelet transfusions as well.

Yesterday they took him into surgery where they inserted a central line / port so he can hopefully get the IV's out of his hands and can get the use of his hands back, they also did a spinal tap, and a bone marrow graft. This central line will be used for the Chemotherapy that will be used to fight off the bad cells but also make Sammy very sick, and all the while this poor little baby still doesn't understand anything thats happening to him. Today his poor little body is so swollen with water, and his blood pressure is high, continuing prayers for strength to continue to handle and fight what new comes each and every day.

Today ( Friday ) Sammy was started on Chemotherapy, still being treated for the Tumor Lysis and his Kidneys are being watched closely because they are being so overworked trying to process everything that is happening. Potentially he may need dialysis to help his little kidneys get relief, and every day it seems there is a whole new battle for his body to fight and all we can do is hold him...

Over the last few weeks:
#chemotherapy treatments brought electrolyte challenges, a few days of low calcium and an irregular heartbeat as well as a spiked sugar level that required insulin. It seems that every day brings another challenge to overcome. Together our family, the amazing doctors at Brenners Childrens hospital and baby Sammy's fight we can make it through this victoriously.

This is going to be a very long journey ( 2.5 years of Chemotherapy) for all of us especially for Sammy. His outpatient care involves medical equipment daily that is not covered by medicare. At home nursing care

We are asking for your love, support and prayers and if you'd like to help out with some current & future expenses my family would forever grateful.

CANCER does not care who you are, or how old you are, and that you haven't even had a chance to live your life yet

With deepest gratitude, and love PLEASE KEEP US IN YOUR PRAYERS!!!
