UPDATE 6/22: We're back in the ICU; and angel Sammi has lost the fight against heart failure. I welcome this pain from the deepest and longest love I’ve yet to know. $10k later, truly anything helps ❤️
Hello, my name is Megan Joy. I am a consultant, coach, and conscious community builder in Los Angeles, championing womxn and spreading empathy. I create safe spaces for people to connect, heal, and have fun!
I am a single, childless mama of this divine angel fur-baby. Sammi is 11 years old and has the personality of a human. I've had her since she was a baby. She has a big heart-shaped spot on her side and as of June 4th, also had a literal enlarged heart, the size of her entire chest. The doctor said it was the biggest heart she'd ever seen. #weknowdoc The Grinch does not translate to puppy dogs though...

(Sammi in the ICU oxygen chamber and her first week home)
She was in severe heart failure when I rushed her to the ER. I noticed her breathing was getting fast and labored. I had experienced heart failure many times before with my father. I have been caretaking my parents for quite some time now and this little angel has been by my side like a shadow through all of the ups and downs. Bringing joy to everyone around her. She loves all animals and humans and truly enjoys her life. She is quite literally an angel in dog form. A sassy, independent, curious, loving, way too smart, playful, cuddly, adventurous angel.
One week in the ICU and a few check-ups later, the bill is upwards of $8,000 and growing. Though the first few days were critical, two weeks later she seemed to be in promising recovery until she took a turn suddenly. One more ICU visit later, my girl just could not hold on any longer and I did not want her to suffer. She stopped breathing, twice, a fighter to the end. She is closer to me now than ever before, though her physical presence will be forever missed.
My whole life has been, and is centered around giving - and I am now asking for support. I wish I could say I had an overflowing rainy day fund for an occasion such as this or that my animal insurance covered anything. Unfortunately, neither are true. It would mean the world to receive your support; be it $1-$10,000! Hey, I know there are some high rollers out there... Let us help you with your taxes.
Just sharing this campaign out into the world helps beyond any words I can convey. I appreciate you all. We are all so grateful to be in decent health and alive.
Sending you my love. Big hugs from Sammi & I --
xo,
Megan (DM me to say hello)
- The funds will specifically be used to pay off the loan that was opened at the time of the emergency room visit via Scratch Pay, as well as the Care Credit Card that's been used for the final ER visit.
