When you hear the words "You have cancer," your world changes in an instant.

Earlier this year, Sammie was diagnosed with breast cancer after discovering a concerning lump. Because she does not have health insurance, every step of her journey, from diagnostic testing and imaging to specialist appointments and surgery, has been paid for entirely out of pocket.

Despite the financial strain, Sammie moved forward with the care she needed. She recently underwent a partial mastectomy, and while we are grateful for a successful surgery, her treatment is not over. Her medical team has recommended radiation therapy as the next critical step in reducing the risk of recurrence and helping her move toward recovery.
