This past week turned our world upside down. Three people who mean the absolute world to me — Sammie, Kelly, and their youngest son Keegan — were involved in a terrible car accident. While we are overwhelmingly grateful that they are still here with us, the road ahead is going to be long, painful, and full of challenges none of us expected. Sammie and Kelly have always been the first to drop everything to help others, and now they need our support more than ever.

Kelly is recovering from five broken ribs and severe facial injuries, while Keegan is healing from a broken nose, broken wrist, and a liver laceration that thankfully healed on its own. Sammie’s injuries are the most severe — she has a circle of staples in her head, a broken arm, a broken hip, a broken pelvis, and broken bones in her leg. She’s already undergone three surgeries and faces at least one more, with a long stay in rehab ahead before she can return home. Their new car, purchased just three days before the accident, was completely totaled, but we are so grateful it protected them as much as it did.

On top of the medical challenges, the family is facing mounting bills, travel expenses for hospital visits between Jacksonville and Tallahassee, and the need to build a ramp at home for Sammie’s recovery. Both Sammie and Kelly are unable to work, and they also care for Kelly’s father, making this time even more overwhelming. We’ve been holding onto every bit of hope we can find — each small improvement, each moment of clarity, each step toward healing. Their strength has been incredible, and the love that’s been surrounding them has carried us through some very scary hours.

So many of you have checked in, prayed, sent messages, or asked how you can help. It means more than you know, and it has reminded all of us that we’re not walking through this alone. As much as we wish they didn’t need the help, they do — and this is where I’m asking from the deepest place in my heart. If you’re able to donate, no matter the amount, it will make a real, immediate difference for them. And if donating isn’t possible, sharing this or keeping them in your prayers is just as appreciated. Every bit of support lifts a little weight off their shoulders and moves them one step closer to stability. We’re holding tight to hope, grateful for every act of kindness, and believing wholeheartedly in their full recovery.
