Samirah, is a queer community member and artist in the SanFrancisco Bay Area. I am reaching out on their behalf for support after a traumatic incident that has significantly impacted their life.
On April 3rd, 2026, while providing free audio services alongside BASS at a public space in Oakland, Samirah was assaulted by an individual unprovoked. As a result, Samirah has sustained serious injuries, including head trauma and a concussion, which required medical attention and ongoing recovery.
Since the incident, they have been experiencing both physical and emotional effects that have disrupted their daily life. Samirah is currently unable to work as they need to recover, which has created immediate financial strain and uncertainty around meeting basic living expenses such as rent, food, transportation, and essential needs. As a full-time student in their final semester of undergraduate studies, they have also faced academic setbacks due to the cognitive and emotional impact of injuries.
Beyond the physical recovery, Samirah is navigating anxiety, fear, and difficulty returning to normal routines such as leaving home, sleeping, and traveling. They are seeking access to mental health support to process this trauma and begin to heal.
Samirah is seeking community help to meet immediate living expenses, recovery-related costs, and supporting services during this period where they are unable to work in hopes of regaining stability. It will also provide support as they work toward safely transitioning back into school, employment, and post-graduation planning.
We are incredibly grateful Samirah is alive and has the support of their community during this time. Any contribution, no matter the amount, will make a meaningful difference in helping them recover and move forward.
