Samia is a devoted mother of two beautiful children, ages 6 and 18 months. Six years ago, she immigrated from Algeria to the United States with her husband, hoping to build a better future for their family. Like many young families, they worked hard to establish stability and create a new life.
A few months ago, Samia’s world was turned upside down when she was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer.
As a stay-at-home mother, Samia cares for her children full time because daycare costs are extremely high. With Algeria currently on the visa bond list, her family faces significant limitations in traveling to the U.S. to provide the emotional and physical support she desperately needs during this difficult time. Being far from her loved ones has made this journey even more challenging.
Cancer treatment is not only physically and emotionally exhausting — it is also financially overwhelming. Without her own income, the burden on her family is heavy.
Thanks to the generosity of our community, we were able to raise funds to cover her daughter’s daycare expenses for just a few months, allowing Samia to focus on treatment. But there is still much more needed to relieve the financial stress of medical bills, treatments, and everyday expenses.
On February 23, 2026, Samia received her first chemotherapy treatment — seven long hours sitting in a chair, watching each drop of medicine enter her body. It was a long and difficult day, yet she remained strong, hopeful, and positive. Her goal is clear: to fight this cancer for herself, her children, her husband, and her family.
We are asking our communities across the country to come together and help ease this burden so Samia can focus entirely on her health and recovery.
