At the beginning of this year, our dear friend Samara received life-changing news: she was diagnosed with Stage 3C Squamous Cell Carcinoma that had spread to a lymph node in her groin.
Since that diagnosis, Samara has faced challenge after challenge with incredible strength and faith. What began as a frightening diagnosis quickly became a battle that has impacted every part of her daily life. The cancer and its complications have caused severe pain, limited her mobility, and left her largely confined to bed for much of this journey.
Despite months of treatment, including ongoing chemotherapy and a recent transition to a more aggressive chemotherapy medication, the road has been anything but easy. Samara has experienced significant weight loss, developed a blood clot in her leg, endured multiple hospitalizations due to infection and severe pain, and is currently waiting to get scheduled with University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle for a worsening wound related to her cancer.
Through it all, Samara and her husband, Rod, have continued to lean on their faith and the support of their community. Living far from family, they have been deeply touched by the kindness shown to them by friends, neighbors, and the Silver Valley community.
As Samara’s care needs have increased, Rod has been forced to step away from work to be her full-time caregiver. While he would much rather be providing for his family through work, his place right now is beside the woman he loves, helping her navigate each day of this difficult fight.
The financial burden of cancer is overwhelming. Medical expenses, travel for specialized care, medications, household bills, and the loss of income have created significant strain during an already heartbreaking season.
If you know Samara, you know her heart. She is strong, compassionate, and continues to smile through the pain. If you feel led to help, any contribution- large or small- it will go directly toward easing the financial burden on Samara and Rod so they can focus on what matters most: her treatment, healing, and time together.
If you are unable to give financially, please consider sharing this fundraiser and keeping Samara and her family in your prayers.
Thank you for surrounding them with love, encouragement, and support during this difficult journey.
