My name is Luz (many know me as Diana), and with a completely shattered heart, I am asking for help I never imagined needing. On Thursday, I lost my only daughter, Samantha. She was just 31 years young.

Sam came into this world unexpectedly on December 18th, 1993, and from that moment, my life changed forever. She brought so much joy to our family; to Mami, Dad, and especially to my brother Angel, who loved her like a little sister from her very first breath. Watching her graduate from college was one of the proudest moments of my life. She was bright, kind, and had a beautiful future ahead of her.

Life, however, took a painful turn. Losing my Dad and, later, Mami deeply affected Sam. Her grief was heavy, and her heart never fully recovered. Now, losing her has left an indescribable pain that I wouldn’t wish on anyone. I am trying each day to keep going because I know she would want me to, but this has been the hardest thing I have ever faced.

Throughout all of this, the support from family, friends, colleagues, and neighbors has been overwhelming. Everyone who knew Sam remembers her smile; a smile that lit up every room she walked into. I am endlessly grateful for every message, visit, and prayer.

Many have asked how they can help. What I need most right now is assistance to give my daughter the farewell she deserves.

-Funeral and memorial expenses

-Outstanding medical bills

-Care for her beloved dog, Puddles

Puddles was Sam’s baby. He’s an older pup with health issues, and I am committed to keeping him as comfortable and loved as she would have wanted. He is now the closest thing I have to a grandchild, and caring for him is my way of keeping a piece of her close.

The only peace I can hold onto is knowing that Sam is now reunited with my parents, whole again and surrounded by their love.
