Hello, my name is Samantha and I’m 23 years old. I’ve been struggling with my hearing for as long as I can remember. I’ve always been so sensitive to noise and have always felt like there was something wrong with my ears as it affects my everyday life. After years of wondering what has been going on, I finally got a proper diagnosis from an ENT specialist. I got diagnosed with Otosclerosis, which means the 3 little bones in my ear are fusing together. Otosclerosis is a progressing hearing loss and there’s no cure for it. The two current treatment options for Otosclerosis are either hearing aids or surgery. After lots of consideration and getting my hearing tested, I’ve decided it would be best to start with hearing aids. Unfortunately, the hearing aids I need are not covered under my insurance and I have to pay out of pocket. Fortunately, I only need one hearing aid as my other ear doesn’t need one. The total cost for the hearing aid is $3,395 and I simply cannot afford it on my own. Anything helps!!! Even if it’s a few dollars, it will all go towards the cost of the hearing aid I need.
