Update 2-3-26
Lately days are so long for us and I don't get time to sit down much so I haven't updated in over a week. Sam did have to have a second emergency surgery last Tuesday to remove more necrotic tissue from the small intestine. He's gotten better since then and has been moved out of ICU. He still has 2 aneurysms that will require surgery eventually. He's down to less than half of his intestine but it's something he can live with. With that and the ice storm, I haven't been able to get Mom to a neurosurgeon for her fractured neck. We are working on that now. As if we didn't have enough going on, somebody chose to run a stop sign and I don't mean slowly rolling through one. This happened Thursday the 22nd, 2 days before the ice storm. It was at a speed high enough to hit Mom in the front left fender then that person's vehicle was side by side against Mom's and pushed her head on into a metal pole, along with Sam. He was with her. And going fast enough it broke Mom's neck and totaled her vehicle and in the middle of downtown! I know it could have been worse but dang yall, slow down, abide by the speed and stop signs! Don't ever think a bad wreck can't happen where it's supposed to be slow traffic! This has been beyond devastating for us and disrupted everything in many ways!! Mom is now out of work and will be for I know another month but if she has to have surgery, it will be a few months. It's hard to think straight most days and not knowing if we are going to get another bad call from the hospital about Sam or what's going to happen next. We couldn't be where we are now without God! He keeps lifting us all up and giving us the strength we need to get through every single thing that's come about. He always has a plan even during the worst times!!✝️✝️✝️ We also couldn't make it without our great friends and family that have been with us through it all!!! Also all of the doctors and staff at Bolivar Medical Center!!❤❤❤
Also a huge thanks to Tim who has been by my side through it all!! I know some of you may be confused on that and I won't say anymore about that part. He has been by my side every single day since Sam got sick in November! Then the night of the wreck and last week driving me and Mom back and forth to the hospital regardless of the time during the ice. I couldn't have made it through this without him either!!
I'm keeping the gofundme going. It's something I have to do at this point. We are very thankful for everybody that donated already!!! If you can't donate, please please share the godfundme page! We love you all and I will try my best to update more!!❤✝️ Thank you all for the continued prayers and please keep them coming
Update 12-18-25
We hoped the blood flow would pick up to his intestine but unfortunately it hasn't. It's not enough to process food that he eats. It did allow jello and popsicles but the vomiting started back. They had to put the NG tube back in and he's on water and ice chips only again. The vascular doctor called us yesterday and all options have been tried but we are still hopeful for the blood flow to pick up!! We are bringing him here to the hospital. His girlfriend of 13 years, Monique who hasn't left his side, is coming too. He's very glad to be coming home and we are too!!❤❤❤ We will see how things go and we won't give up!! That's all I can say for now. Please pray for all of us Love yall so much and we're very thankful for everything you've done
My name is Jennifer Guest. My brother Sam Guest has been in ICU since November 23. He has a large clot blocking the small intestine and a dissected artery. After talking with the vascular surgeon this morning, we decided not to go with surgery. His case is very rare and survival rate with surgery is 1%. There are a few positives. He does have a little blood flow going to the intestine and we are going to wait and pray that it picks up flow. My Mom, Linda Manning has been with him since November 26. I arrived yesterday Dec 2. With Mom and I living in MS and having to travel to Alabama, the financial strain is growing due to not able to work and then travel expenses, food, gas and bills. Sam being out work as well is an issue. If he does recover we will still have to move him into a different place to live due to current status is an upstairs place. As we don't know what's ahead of us, it's so much to think about. Any help is very much appreciated!!! Please continue to lift Sam up in your prayers!!!! We love him so much and just want him well!!
