If you knew Sam Gabud, "Sammy" as most of us called him, you knew how his smile and laughter could light up a room. You also would know what an incredible human he was, with his generosity, support and love of teaching (about drums, trains, geology). Sam went into the hospital in August for what should have been a emergent, yet routine surgery. Over the last few months, infections crept in and his organs began to fail. Unfortunately Sam succumbed to his illnesses on October 27, 2025 with his sisters by his side, peacefully so he could get up there and start playing his drums (with both legs now - yeah double bass) and blowing his train whistle.
Sam unfortunately had been receiving disability since his leg amputation in 2021 and did not have any arrangements or insurance for something we expected to not have to worry about for years. We are asking for any assistance, be it prayer, a share or monetary amount, to help get sam back in the tinderbox of his favorite train and fully laid to rest. Any help in any matters would be terrific. We will share updates once we have funeral arrangements (Burket Truby in Oakmont)
