Help Us Support Sam Beall’s Recovery

Donation protected
Hello wonderful friends and family! We are reaching out to ask for your support for our amazing, wonderful, goofy, caring and loving brother/son/dad/uncle/friend, Sam. As many of you know, Sam recently underwent emergency surgery after an undetected bleeding duodenal ulcer ruptured and almost took his life. He was rushed to the ER in excruciating pain with a hemoglobin level of 4.5 g/dL (normal is 13.8-17.2g/dL). They performed emergency surgery bedside in the ICU. He has had to receive multiple transfusions, before and after surgery, and his recovery is going very slow. And while this is a lot, it’s much more complicated than that. Sammy also has severe degenerative disc disease throughout his entire spine, and had just had his third cervical spine fusion surgery just weeks before this dramatic event. In April, while recovering from that spinal surgery, he and Stacy were given notice that they had to vacate their home of 8 ½ years by May 6th, as the house was being demolished. Sam was physically unable to help with the move, so Stacy had to hire movers to take all of the large furniture to their new apartment, with a plan to move all the smaller things by car. They had just started moving over their personal belongings when Sam was rushed to the ER. Peter and Daniel immediately flew into Salt Lake from Denver to be with Sam in the hospital and support their parents in every way possible. They moved over as much as they could from the house to the apartment, but Sam and Stacy ended up losing a lot of their treasured belongings. While we know it’s just “stuff”, and his health is what truly matters, it’s still a difficult loss. Mom (Betty Beall) is now in Utah helping Sam and Stacy, but she returns to Texas next week. If you don’t know Sam personally, you may wonder why he’s worthy of your help. To say that Sam has made an impact on the lives of many is an understatement. He is a giver by nature, and loves his family, friends, and especially those in difficult circumstances with all of his heart. Odds are, if you are reading this, he has helped you or someone you know personally, and he may have even installed your flooring! Sam has been a helper all of his life, leading bible studies and worship, helping build a neighborhood church Utah, working in prison ministry, taking teens on wilderness treks, helping the homeless, involvement with AA, and many other organizations, but it goes much further than that. Over their 30 years of marriage, Sam and Stacy have taken in countless people who are down on their luck and helped them get back on their feet. Sam has always had a heart for those with disabilities. When his body could no longer tolerate the demands of floor installation, he followed his heart and became a caregiver. Sam has worked at nursing homes and day-habs for the disabled since 2014, and his current job of 3 ½ years at Neighborhood House , caring for adults with dementia and other cognitive and intellectual disabilities has been his absolute favorite. However, Sam has now run out of all leave, has not been able to work for 3 months, and has lost his job at Neighborhood House (although he can be rehired once healthy). There is no way he can possibly return to work at this time, and they wiped out all of their savings. Sam is still undergoing medical treatment and receiving transfusions to try to restore his hemoglobin levels back to an acceptable level, but until then, he is unable to support his family. The purpose of this GoFundMe is to offset the financial burden on Sam and Stacy during this physically and emotionally challenging time to help them pay living and medical expenses. Together we can lighten their load and help them in their time of need. If you are unable to donate, your thoughts, prayers and positive energy are deeply appreciated. If you could share this fundraiser and perhaps what Sam means to you, that would be wonderful, too. With our deepest gratitude, The Shaws, The Bealls, and everyone who loves Sam
