There are not enough words to describe how loving, kind-hearted and giving these two are everyday!! Our dear friends, Salwa and Mae, are facing an incredibly challenging time. Recently, Salwa was diagnosed with DCIS (ductal breast cancer). She is scheduled for surgery on January 8, 2026, which will be followed by 4-6 weeks of radiation. She'll then follow the next steps of her care plan as it unfolds.

As many of you know, Salwa is self-employed—meaning no work, no pay. As they were trying to steady themselves with this news, Mae was laid off from their job—also their source of medical insurance—leaving them to secure new coverage and pay many costs out of pocket.

During this time, Salwa will be unable to work for a few weeks, while she focuses on recovery and healing. The financial burden of medical bills, insurance, and basic living expenses is overwhelming.
