Dear friends and family of Salvador E. Cruz,
Salvador was a friend, lover, son, and talented musician. His sudden demise has left community in shock and will be greatly missed. Please help us give him the dignified funeral he deserves to say a final goodbye.
Salvador was a unique character, one that shared love and creativity with so many as a brother, a son, a friend, a musician, a lover, and much more. Salvador’s story is one of passion, creativity, and enthusiasm regarding everything he cared about. From childhood, his heart overflowed with the desire to sing, play guitar, and perform. You could find him as a boy impersonating artists such as Michael Jackson or Slash. His imagination would also encourage him to create stop-motion animation on his mom’s phone and to write short comic strips. He loved to play pretend apocalypse with his friends by packing a bag with his homemade crossbow and other “survival” equipment he’d come up with. The world of his imagination was boundless.
As he grew into his teens, bands such as Avenged Sevenfold, Alice in Chains, and Megadeth would shape his creative pool as evident in his music. He would continue to pursue his dreams of performing on a stage and would ultimately create unbreakable bonds with local bands Septik and Labyrinth who would provide him with the platforms to perform his first concert. Salvador would be at almost every local show possible with the money he made from his jobs to get closer to the Houston scene and network with local artists. He was never one to shy away from his passion for music; he’d share his songs and lyrics with any audience who’d listen. All those who knew of him would remember his iconic look: his black cowboy hat with a red bandana, brown aviator over the jean jacket, boots, and his favorite pair of nostalgic round shades. His presence was beautiful. His ideas were incomparable. His sense of humor- distinctive and grand.
Despite Salvador's amazing qualities, he faced significant pains and struggles. He was often misunderstood, leading to self-doubt. It's not accurate to say that Salvador didn't give his best, but the weight of expectations was overwhelming. In his time of need, Salvador often felt isolated and constantly battled with fears. He left us too young, too soon. We wouldn't wish the kind of pain he felt upon anyone, just as we carry it with us now. That is why we urge you to tell your friends and family how much we appreciate them, and that you love them.
Salvador is survived by his mother, sibling and his beloved girlfriend, Em. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that he was loved by many and will be missed by more.
Unfortunately, we were not financially prepared for such sudden tragedy, and as funerals can be expensive, we graciously ask if for your help. We understand if you’re in a tight economic situation, so if $1 is all you can give, then we are eternally grateful. Every penny will go towards the funeral home, cemetery burial, and other expenses that come with funerals. His sudden demise has left community in shock and will be greatly missed. Please help us give him the dignified funeral he deserves to say a final goodbye.
