Salvador Galvan our father, has been battling diabetes and a devastating gram-positive bacterial infection that has led to the amputation of most of his left foot. Despite medical intervention, the infection spread into his bloodstream.

This isn’t the first health crisis he’s endured. In September 2022, my father suffered a stroke, followed by another in March 2024. These strokes left him struggling to regain mobility and independence, requiring extensive physical therapy and medication just to perform basic day-to-day activities. On top of these challenges, he has been unable to return to his work in construction due to his deteriorating health and now his amputations.

As if the physical and emotional toll weren’t enough, the financial burden has been overwhelming. My father was the primary provider for our family, and with his inability to work, the bills have been piling up. Watching him lose not only his health but also his sense of purpose has been heartbreaking. His mental health has been steadily declining as he struggles with these immense challenges.
