Support Salt Lake City Main Street After Fire Damage

What Happened

On the evening of Monday, August 11, 2025, at approximately 8:40 p.m., a devastating three-alarm fire broke out at 321 S. Main Street in downtown Salt Lake City, within a century-old business complex consisting of several contiguous storefronts.

Known Businesses Impacted

• London Belle Supper Club — The fire began here and quickly engulfed much of the surrounding structure.

• Whiskey Street — Nearby business believed to be consumed by flames.

• White Horse — Reported as affected in the neighboring block.

• Utah Book and Magazine (bookstore) — A local treasure in the same row; its status is uncertain and still undergoing assessment.

• Multiple other businesses were caught in the dramatic scene, and damage assessment is still ongoing.

Why We Need Your Help

• Legacy construction and the aggressive nature of the fire forced firefighters to switch to a defensive strategy, which limited interior suppression and increased destruction.

• While no civilians were injured, the damage both from the blaze itself and secondary water and smoke exposure is substantial, impacting livelihoods, inventory, and community culture.

• These businesses are pillars of our community; each holds cherished memories and significance, from cozy gatherings at the London Belle to literary discoveries at Utah Book and Magazine.
