Hey everyone,
My mother, Sally Li, was assaulted on her way home from work on June 5th, 2021. *TRIGGER WARNING* The assailant came from behind and punched her in the back of the head, followed by more blows once she was downed. He attempted to get on top of her to continue attacking her, and more. Thankfully, a bystander was able to scare him off and as he turned to run, my mother being the fighter she is, was able to tackle him to submission before authorities arrived. Her injuries weren't fatal, but the mental scarring it's done has yet to be healed and will last for longer than she'd care to admit. She is now being caught in a legal battle with the assailant as he's trying to push the false narrative that she attacked him first.
On top of all this, her restaurant, Wattli Bar & Kitchen, was robbed the following Monday June 7th. *break-in pictured below*
Thankfully no one was hurt as this happened off restaurant hours, but it's yet another cause for unrest Sally has to deal with as owner, head chef, and as a woman now fearing for her life every time she closes up shop. They broke in and stole the cash register. The police claimed this was an expert that has robbed nearly 30 stores in the surrounding area and that they have no leads whatsoever. Point being, she has to file all the paperwork for an insurance claim in the hopes they can help with anything. There is no further aid being offered.
As you can imagine the paperwork for both the legal prosecution and the insurance claim can be overwhelming, let alone after dealing with the trauma of an assault. Today I'm asking you to help us by donating what you can to help pay for her legal aid, along with possibly getting her a new cash register and security cameras. No donation is too small!
