I want you to meet Salina, my mother-in-law. She's an amazing mother to my husband and an even more incredible grandmother to our two baby boys. She's one of the strongest people I've ever met and has taught me a lot through the years that we've known each other. I've never known her to need anything from anyone, which is why it hurts me to write this...

Nine months ago, she suffered a heart attack and faced serious complications during an operation where her heart stopped. By the grace of God and the nurses by her side, she was able to come back to us. In the days that followed, she received a life-altering diagnosis: lupus. Since then, it’s been a long and difficult road to recovery.

She’s been in and out of the hospital ever since, most recently for dangerously low hemoglobin levels that almost took her life again. God wasn't ready for her to come home yet, and neither are we. With all these ongoing medical challenges she has come to the realization that she will be unable to return to work at her job of nearly 15 years now. She is so used to being on-the-go and providing for herself that she hasn't actually given herself a chance to heal. This has been a challenge in and of itself for her to come to terms with.

My husband and I are starting this GoFundMe to help support her during this incredibly hard time. These funds will help her get by while she focuses on healing and regaining her strength over the next several months.

Anyone who knows my mom knows how deeply she cares for others and how hard she has always worked. She never missed a chance to help someone else when she could. Now she needs a little help to get through this season of recovery. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference.
