Support Sakhi Through Maitri: UCSD's Charity Show
Donation protected
We are UCSD Pushpanjali, and we’re proud to present Maitri, our annual charity dance showcase. This year, we are raising funds for Sakhi, a nonprofit organization that supports South Asian women impacted by gender-based violence.
What is Maitri?
Maitri is a cultural dance show that highlights the diverse Asian dance styles represented across UC San Diego’s campus, while also raising awareness and funds for a meaningful cause. This year, we are supporting Sakhi, a New York-based nonprofit dedicated to serving South Asian survivors of gender-based violence.
The event is free and open to all. While donations are encouraged, they are completely optional. Guests can also enjoy free food, drinks, henna, and a photo booth during the show.
Why Sakhi?
For over 30 years, Sakhi has provided critical resources to survivors, including counseling, housing support, legal advocacy, and community outreach. Their mission is to end violence against women and create pathways toward justice, healing, and empowerment in South Asian communities.
How are we raising money?
We are hosting fundraisers throughout the quarter leading up to the show and will be collecting voluntary donations at the event itself. Maitri is a non-ticketed, volunteer-run showcase, which means that 100% of the proceeds will go directly to Sakhi.
Any contribution, big or small, helps us make a real impact. Thank you for your support!
