Hi! My name is Milan and I live in Upstate New York. I have been in rescue for 9 years and have rescued, fostered, rehomed, and adopted many dogs. I am not a 501(c)(3) rescue, but I have worked with several rescues in the state and across the United States.
Recently, while driving on Jan 31st, I passed an older man walking a very emaciated young dog. Something told me to turn around and check on this situation, and I am so glad I did. To make a long story shorter, I discovered this poor pup had been living in a crate and his own waste for most of his life. This older man was not the cause of this pup's prior life but needed help and offered him to me, which I could not say no to. I do know who is responsible though.
And here we are today.
This beautiful boy is a Cane Corso, 10 months old, and sweet as ever despite his abusive and neglectful past. Unfortunately, he has tested positive for Lyme disease and will be on antibiotics for a while. My hope is this has been caught early enough and he can make a full recovery.
This beautiful baby also needs a full medical workup to include x-rays, bloodwork, abdominal ultrasound, various other tests, and to eventually be neutered when he is more stable.
According to a rescue I have reached out to that deals with severe abuse & neglect cases such as his, I have been advised he will need very specific testing to be done that will positively confirm his emaciated state and stage of Lyme disease, and other medical conditions are directly related to the neglect and indifference suffered by his previous owner. These tests are necessary to give him the justice he deserves and a life he’d been deprived of.
Knowing this, I have already paid out of pocket approximately $1500 for, among other things, fecal testing, 1st rounds of vaccinations, and his 4DX testing which confirmed his Lyme disease. Plus, he had to go to the animal emergency hospital. Based on his needed future medical testing and current health issues, my veterinarian has provided a high/low estimate for these tests to include his neuter.
I will include copies of all medical estimates and invoices as I get them.
So, with all this being said, I REALLY am in need of funds to give this precious soul the life he deserves and to bring justice to him for all he’s endured.
Everyone, please meet Saint. He is truly magnificent ♥️
