Hi everyone,
I wanted to share something that’s been unfolding over the last few months. After a series of scans and specialist visits, I was found to have a mediastinal mass: a growth in the space between my lungs measuring 45x19x63 mm. I’m now scheduled for surgery on 11/24 to remove it.
The final diagnosis won’t be known until after surgery, but doctors say it could be thymoma, a rare cancer of the thymus gland; lymphoma, a cancer of the lymphatic system; or benign residual thymic tissue. I’m hoping for the best, but it’s been a stressful and expensive process getting to this point.
To reach this diagnosis, I’ve already needed a PET scan, CT, MRI, bloodwork, and multiple specialist appointments — and even with insurance, those bills add up quickly. Surgery itself comes with additional costs like anesthesia, pathology, and facility fees.
And while I’ll still receive my base salary during my medical leave, I work in sales which means I will lose the commission income I normally rely on during my recovery.
I’m raising funds to cover the previously mentioned diagnostic testing, surgery-related expenses, lost income during recovery, and any additional treatment I may need depending on the pathology results.
I’ll be sure to post an update on next steps after receiving the pathology results post surgery.
If you’re able to donate or share the link, it would mean the world. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for being in my corner.
