My beautiful 2-month-old niece, Sage, was born with ASD and VSD congenital heart defects, meaning she has a hole in the walls between both the upper chambers and lower chambers of her heart, which will require surgery to close.

Unfortunately, due to these defects, she has not been able to gain enough weight on her own and is currently in the hospital receiving tube feeds until she's strong enough to undergo surgery.

My sister Kelly, who is an elementary school teacher, is taking unpaid leave to be able to stay bedside with Sage until surgery and post-op while she recovers. Post-operatively, Sage will be more susceptible to respiratory illnesses and will be unable to go to daycare until at least one month after surgery. My sister and brother-in-law are doing everything in their power to get Sage the medical assistance she needs while also caring for their older daughter. Their family has a long road ahead of them and any help would be greatly appreciated!
