On Saturday, August 2nd, my son, Sage Long, was goofing off and wrestling with a couple of his friends when somehow he managed to fracture the C6 vertebrae in his spinal cord. He was rushed to USA Trauma by ambulance where he had surgery. They were able to use 2 rods and multiple screws to fuse his spinal cord. At the moment, Sage is paralyzed from mid chest down with limited mobility in his upper body. Sage will be medically transported to a neuro rehabilitation center as soon as we are able to get a placement for him. This is a inpatient therapy program that he will need to be in for at least 3 to 6 months. Myself, Ally (his wife) and Saylor (his 1 year old daughter) will be accompanying him on this journey. The day after Sage's accident, Ally found out that they are expecting their 2nd child. They bought their 1st home a little over a year ago and have all the other bills that you would expect a new and growing family to have. Sage had just started a fantastic new job, but unfortunately it was a contract job where they planned on hiring him on permanently after 6 months. Sage will be unable to work until he finishes his neuro rehab and Ally is a stay at home mom who is now pregnant and also has epilepsy. There will be numerous travel expenses to get Ally to her doctor appointments along with living expenses while out of town and them managing their bills as well.
We are asking for donations to help this young family on this incredibly difficult journey they have found themselves on. We appreciate the overwhelming support, visits and prayers from everyone. We cannot possibly thank you enough! If you are unable to donate, that is absolutely fine and it is not expected, but if you could please share Sage's story and continue to pray for him and his family, we will be forever grateful!!
Sage's attitude and spirits throughout all of this have been amazing to witness. He 100% believes that God has got this and that he is on the path he is meant to be on.
