Anyone who knows Sage knows her sweet companion, Draven. She found her at 6 months old dodging cars in the street and they have been inseparable ever since. Draven has been Sage’s emotional support the last 9 years and is her entire world.
Yesterday Draven’s behavior changed abruptly and she was rushed to the emergency vet. Sage was blindsided with a $1700 bill just to do the ultrasounds and x-rays to find the root cause. After all the testing unfortunately the vets found a mass they originally thought was on her spleen. The original splenectomy and hospitalization was an extra $8600. An hour into surgery, Sage got a call that the mass was not in her spleen but on her liver and she had a lot of internal bleeding they were trying to find the cause of. Doctor G let her know she may have to be euthanized on the table but was going to do his best to heal her. The surgeon worked for hours and was able to remove the mass and stop the bleeding. As of right now Draven is receiving a blood transfusion and is awake but confused and drowsy. The mass still needs to be sent out to find out if it’s malignant and she’s got a rough recovery ahead. Sage won’t be able to work for at least a few weeks while making sure Draven heals properly from her liver mass removal and could use some help covering surgical and future medical costs.
No donation is too small, if you can’t donate please consider sharing. Draven is more than just a dog and anyone who has been lucky enough to meet her knows how special she is. We are praying with the help for her surgeries and post hospitalization costs we can make it to at least 10 years together in October.
