Help the People of Safi, Morocco, Recover After Deadly Floods
On Sunday, December 14, 2025, the coastal city of Safi, Morocco, my hometown, was hit by catastrophic floods caused by torrential rain. In just about one hour, historic neighborhoods, including the old medina, were inundated, sweeping through homes, shops, and narrow streets of the old medina and beyond.
According to local officials, at least 37 people have died, and search and rescue operations are underway as the community grapples with this devastating loss.
Dozens of homes and businesses have been flooded, and hundreds of families have been displaced. Many merchants have lost all their merchandise, and neighborhoods are surrounded by mud and debris.
There are no immediate resources available locally to support the displaced families and struggling households, especially in the old medina and surrounding districts. We are calling on our community to come together in solidarity and support.
Your donation will go directly to:
- Warm blankets
- Flashlights
- Food supplies
- Water, hygiene kits, and essential goods
- Support for displaced families and affected merchants
All funds will be used transparently and distributed directly to those most in need in Safi.
Please give what you can. Your help will make a real difference in the lives of families who have lost so much.
