Support Sadie's Rescue and Her Large Litter
Donation protected
On November 2nd, 2024, my wife and I rescued Sadie on a dirt road in rural Texas. She had apparently been abandoned there by someone around a week prior. No tags and, on November 5th, our vet confirmed, no chip either.
From the looks of her very thin belly, it appeared as though Sadie might have had a litter in the recent past. It did not appear as though she’d been fixed, and we would wait until she was no longer lactating to have her spayed.
She became part of our family immediately. She has a great personality, is my hiking companion, and her tail can break your heart with the most earnest of wags.
Right around Thanksgiving, I noticed she was gaining weight faster than she should. Her teats were growing larger daily, and I came to the realization that our “Sadie Bear” was going to have a litter.
Based on the timeline, I figured we would have Christmas puppies, probably 3-5. We could handle that! Get them fixed, chipped, and adopted. No problem. Even picked out their names!
December 26 at about 6:45 PM CDT, Dasher was born. Then…
Dancer
Prancer
Vixen
Comet!!!
Oh boy…
Cupid
Donner
Blitzen….
Finally, Rudolph! 9 pups.
We all went to bed, exhausted.
The next morning, after counting the pups six or seven times, there was a Max.
10 puppies.
We need help. I know my limits, both financially and socially, and I’ve reached them. I wanted to give Sadie a good life and will continue to do so, but I need help breaking the cycle for her pups. They need to be fed, vaccinated, spayed/neutered, and adopted to good homes.
They are all mixed breed black hound mixes. Two of them have the markings of Rottweilers. We sent in a DNA test for Sadie a couple of weeks ago and will update as we get results. As far as sires are concerned, who knows?
I’m hoping some of you out there have been through something like this before and have the means to assist us. Logistically, we can manage the next few weeks. Financials and finding these adorable pups homes is our shortfall.
Help us give these little reindeer pups a head start.
