Sadie, my sister, was recently in a terrible car crash that left her car totaled. While the accident itself was frightening, what followed has been even more overwhelming for our family. In the aftermath, Sadie was diagnosed with AVM—Arteriovenous Malformation—a rare condition where a tangle of blood vessels disrupts normal blood flow. The crash caused her symptoms to worsen, and doctors discovered that the AVM is large and pressing on her parietal lobe. This has led to serious complications, including motor function disturbances, vision disturbances, the risk of stroke and seizures.

We just found out that she has an aneurysm, and next steps are unknown. Sadie is now facing a long and uncertain medical journey. She is unable to work or care for herself for the foreseeable future, and every day brings new challenges and unknowns. The emotional and financial toll on our family has been immense, but we are determined to support her through this difficult time.
