Support Sadie's Kidney Autotransplant Surgery

Travel Date: May 31st
Surgery: June 4th

I’m reaching out to ask for your support for my niece—a 21 year old devoted Christian, wife, daughter and sister, friend to many, and hardworking hairstylist—who is facing a life-changing surgery.

After 8 years of unexplained pain, this past year it progressed and started affecting her everyday life. After countless doctors’ appointments, specialists, and surgeries, she was diagnosed with 3 very rare vascular compression syndromes. In February of this year they traveled to Colorado to have a stent placed in her left iliac vein for May Thurner Syndrome and Pelvic Congestion Syndrome. During this procedure they found her third compression, her left renal vein was being compressed between her aorta and superior mesenteric artery.

At this time, she was diagnosed with Nutcracker Syndrome, a rare and extremely painful condition affecting her kidney. To regain her health, she needs a complex open abdominal surgery called a renal auto-transplant. They will remove her left kidney, ureter, and all the vasculatures. They will reinsert it and attach everything below her right kidney, so she will have two right kidneys. Because this condition is so rare, her surgery must take place out of state at the UW Health Hospital in Wisconsin, with one of the top Renal Auto Transplant Programs. Surgery is scheduled for Wednesday, June 4, 2025.

While this surgery offers hope for a pain-free future, it also comes with major challenges. She will have to be off work for about 4 months. On top of medical expenses and lost wages, her and her family will have to stay in Wisconsin for about 4 weeks including preop, surgery (at least one week in hospital, if no complications) and then close monitoring (at least two more weeks), which means covering the costs of lodging, food, and other essentials—all adding to an already overwhelming financial burden.

This is where we come in. Every donation, no matter the amount, will help with medical bills, travel expenses, lodging, loss of wages, and daily household needs while she recovers. If you’re unable to give, simply sharing this fundraiser would mean the world to her and her family, as well as prayers during this challenging time.

Sadie has been so strong and positive through this difficult journey. Her trust in God has been evident with her repetitive comment “God is just adding to my story!” She believes her journey will not be over after this surgery. She plans to use her story to bring awareness to these rare vascular compression syndromes. Let’s come together and support this strong, selfless woman so she can focus on healing without the added stress of financial hardship. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your kindness, generosity, and prayers.
