Sachi is a seven-year-old calico. I adopted her from the shelter when I was 18, the week I moved into my first apartment. She had just had kittens and had a hernia and chronic upper respiratory infection, but after treatment and surgery, she recovered fully and grew into the strongest, sweetest cat I've ever met.
Everyone who knows her will tell you she's never met someone she didn't flop on her back for and give a few (or more than a few) sandpaper-y licks to.
On August 9th, 2026, she was diagnosed with and experienced her first episode of heart failure. She is spending the night at the animal hospital in an oxygen chamber and on diuretic medication to hopefully improve her ability to breathe, as there is fluid in her lungs.
She is a resilient girl and has already persevered through motherhood, surgeries, and moving across the country twice. While I hope that she has a few more happy years to live, her first emergency visit has cost $6542, and she will likely have to undergo more expensive overnight stays, medication management, and palliative care from now on.
Any and all donations will go towards her medical fees and making her more comfortable as we navigate her care.
