Support Sabrina's Summer Language Journey

Hi, my name is Sabrina Del Angel, and I'm a sophomore at Walter Payton College Prep in Chicago. During my time at school, I've been lucky enough to study Mandarin Chinese at an honors level with my teachers, Ms. Xu and Ms. Zha, and my 2nd year studying is now coming to a close! I love learning Mandarin, and it has been one of my favorite parts of going to school every day. When I heard about the opportunity to study Chinese in Shanghai over the summer, it was something I was really excited about, and I knew it would greatly help me in a skill I feel really passionate about.

I got into the program after a long time of writing essays (and essays and essays), applying, and finally getting my results back, and it is incredibly exciting to know that I'll be able to go study and have the chance to be at a much higher Mandarin level at the end of the experience in August. Not only is it an amazing experience in terms of actually learning a language, but it also teaches about the culture of Shanghai and the surrounding area, another amazing opportunity to learn about history, food, fashion, and architecture. All in all, it is something I am very lucky to do.

However, the cost for the program is high, with good reason. This Gofundme will cover the airline costs, which is not only the (20 hour!) flight to Shanghai but my transportation to my host family's home, making sure I get there safely, as well as being able to experience the country freely. I am very lucky to have the ability to travel to Shanghai to study Chinese, and I hope you all can help in making sure I can travel there. I am very, very thankful to everyone who has already donated money, and I am so appreciative of the community who has come behind me to help make this possible.
