My name is Sabrina Pierre, and I am a 24-year-old student at the University of South Florida. I’m currently majoring in General Studies with a concentration in Education and minoring in Entrepreneurship. I’m raising funds to help cover the cost of my final semester so I can complete my Bachelor’s degree.

I’ve been a student at USF for four years and was previously supported through financial aid. However, due to personal circumstances, I no longer meet the requirements for financial assistance. I am seeking help because I’m on the verge of graduation, and this financial obstacle is the last barrier between me and earning my degree. Overcoming this challenge would open doors to post-graduate opportunities, including employment and experiences in diverse environments that will enrich my growth and perspective.

Growing up in South Florida in a low-income household, I am proud to be a first-generation college student. My goal is to raise enough money to cover the costs of the Fall semester so I can graduate at the end of the term without the burden of financial hardship.

I currently work with Kelly Services as a substitute teacher, but during the summer, I don’t have a consistent source of income due to school closures. This has made it difficult for me to save enough to pay for my classes. I’ve applied for several loans but have not been successful in securing additional funding.

After earning my degree, I plan to become a full-time educator, creating hands-on learning experiences that go beyond the traditional classroom and foster curiosity and engagement among students.

Historically, students of color have faced systemic barriers to accessing higher education. Financial constraints continue to prevent many of us from completing our academic journeys, and I’m doing everything I can to not become one of those statistics.
