Hello,

My name is Mary Sult. I trap stray & owned lost dogs. I recently trapped an owned Great Dane, Sabine, who escaped from her owner while entering the vet.

While trapping this sweet dog was very rewarding, giving her back to her overwhelmed owner was not something I was looking forward to doing. You see, he recently had 39 of his approximately 90 dogs confiscated by the PSPCA just days ago. I kindly explained to him that it may be in the dog's and his best interest to surrender her. Nobody was expecting him to accept my offer to take her in and re-home her, but surprisingly he did. He realizes he needs to downsize the number of animals he currently has, which I give him credit for. This is a step in the right direction. He is even accepting my future help with other animals my friends and I are helping him to place.

As for Sabine, I took possession of her this afternoon. My friend, Leighann, who has been heavily active in Dane rescue for longer than the 18 years I have known her, is fostering her until properly placed. Of course, we want to get Sabine spayed before re-homing her. The vet who examined her after being trapped also suggested getting her stomach tacked, which is common to do for Danes due to the frequency of their stomach flipping.

As we all know, spaying and neutering is not cheap, especially for such large dogs, but it is even more expensive to add in the vet-suggested stomach tacking, which is done during spaying.

This is where YOU come in. I am asking for your support for Sabine. Please help her get spayed so that she never has to be bred again and can live a life in a HOME for the very first time in 2 years!

While we were all warm in our homes with family & friends celebrating Christmas, she was gone for 4.5 days in freezing temps eating decaying deer carcasses just to stay alive during an ice storm.

Little did she know, this temporary suffering could be the turning point that can lead her to a whole new way of life! Let's celebrate the New Year with her by contributing to her New LIFE!

*Update, 12/30, we got 2 more dogs surrendered from the same breeder today! Dom, a 3.5 month old mantle Dane puppy with a very protruding hernia and Willow, a 3 yr old Dane/Shepherd mix.

Thank you for your time & donation towards Sabine's, Dom's, and Willow's futures!

Mary

*Vet estimates for Sabine and Dom, the Dane pup with the protruding hernia, are attached. Luckily, Willow (Dane/Shepherd mix) is already spayed & vaccinated. Any money that may be raised above our goal will be used for other dogs in similar situations.
