Support Sabaka's Surgery After Tragic Loss

Meet Sabaka - A six (almost seven) year-old hound mix. Sabaka was born Febuary 10th, 2018 but became a part of our family just a year later. Sabaka has always been a playful sweet pup, whether its walks or playing with water bottles, even at 7 Sabaka seems to have an endless tank of energy. This sweet girl lives with my grandpa, who, on January 9th of this year took a bad fall which resulted in hip surgery and hospitalization. Unfortunately, this injury ended up taking his life on January 26th 2025. Just the day before Sabaka started showing signs of distress. Unwilling to walk or even lay down and her body trembling. With the stress of my grandfather being out from the house we hoped Sabaka’s issues were stress related. Saturday Sabaka started losing mobility in her back left leg and the eventual loss of mobility in both back legs and tail. After a difficult visit to Cornell Animal Hospital and a local X-ray, we learned that Sabaka has a spinal disc disease. She is in need of an MRI and surgery to help her regain her strength and mobility, allowing her to run and play once more. The cost of these treatments is significant, with the MRI alone exceeding $5,000 and surgery adding another $25,000 plus ongoing medical expenses (x-rays, medications, wheelchair, puppy pads, etc).
