Support Ry’s Fight for Recovery

On April 12th, Ry woke up struggling to breathe after what seemed like a simple cold. Within hours, everything changed.

She was rushed to the ER, where doctors discovered her oxygen levels were dangerously low and she had pneumonia. Soon after, she was transferred by ambulance to the Pediatric ICU, intubated, and by the next morning placed on ECMO life support after her heart function dropped to just 9%.

What started as a common virus quickly turned into a severe MRSA infection - leading to pneumonia, septic shock, heart complications, and an ongoing fight for her life.

Since that day, Ry has endured procedure after procedure, including heart surgery, and remains on ECMO in the Advanced Cardiac ICU. She is surrounded by both pediatric and adult medical teams working tirelessly to support her.

We are taking things day by day. There are small signs of progress - her heart is improving - but her lungs have been heavily impacted, and she still has a long road ahead.

Ry is an athlete, a fighter, and one of the healthiest, strongest kids we know. Which makes this even harder to comprehend. As her senior year comes to a close, she is missing moments she had been looking forward to - starting with her senior prom.

Right now, her focus is on healing. And her family’s focus is on being by her side every step of the way.
