Support Rylin's Fight: Surgery and Beyond
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Kelli Castor, and I am reaching out on behalf of my niece, Rylin, and our family.
Support for Rylin: A Brave Little Fighter
Our sweet Rylin has a tough road ahead, but she’s surrounded by love, prayers, and an incredible medical team. At just 6 years old, she’s facing a large malignant tumor near her kidney, and her journey to recovery is just beginning.
Her parents, Chach and Megan, are doing everything they can to support their little girl through this unimaginable time while also caring for her fifteen-month-old baby brother, Bodie. They are navigating this battle together, Megan, a devoted mom, is by Rylin’s side every step of the way, while Chach, a Firefighter 2 for Cal Fire in Butte County, is balancing the demands of providing for his family while also being present to support and care for them. They are grateful to be at the hospital together with Rylin for her surgery and whatever treatments may follow in the weeks to come, knowing Bodie is being loved on at home with family.
Rylin is currently receiving care at Kaiser Oakland, where she’s in the best hands. The next step is surgery on Monday, March 3rd, to remove the tumor along with her right kidney. After surgery, her treatment plan will depend on what the doctors find, and she may need chemotherapy and/or radiation to ensure she recovers fully.
This is an incredibly difficult time for their family, both emotionally and financially. The road ahead will bring time away from work, medical expenses and countless unexpected costs. We want to help ease their burden so they can focus on what matters most—helping Rylin heal and taking care of Bodie, who still needs his parents too.
If you would like to support Rylin and her family. Every little bit helps to cover medical costs, travel expenses, or simply ensuring that Chach and Megan can stay by her side without added financial stress.
Most importantly, please keep Rylin and her family in your prayers. She’s got a village behind her, and we know she’s going to bravely face whatever comes with their love and support.
If you would like to donate directly to the Schindler family, via Venmo or meal train, email me and I will send you the links.
Thank you for your outpouring of love, prayers, support, and generosity. Let’s rally around Rylin and family at this time.
Below is a post written and shared on social media by Megan Schindler, Rylin's mom.
Nothing in this world could possibly prepare you for the absolutely unimaginable news that your child has cancer. Our sweet, vivacious Rylin has a large malignant tumor on her right kidney. Everything happened so fast, and this past week has been the most difficult we could ever imagine yet it’s only the beginning. On Monday, Rylin will have surgery with the goal to remove the tumor and right kidney. There are so many unknowns and terrifying possibilities, but the doctors continue to tell us that what they see is very treatable and curable. We praise God that up to this point, Rylin has not had any pain and she has been a brave little soul through multiple tests and a constant revolving door of medical providers. We don’t know what the coming weeks and months will hold, but we know with absolute certainty that God is holding us through it. We’ve already been covered in a tidal wave of love, support and fervent prayers. We’ve received excellent and compassionate care and support through Rylin’s medical support team as well. We don’t know why God would allow us to endure this heartbreak, but we trust that He is still good, still in control, and will never leave us in this valley. We cling to him with white knuckles to carry us through every passing hour. If you would commit to praying for us through this journey, it would mean the world to us.
