Support Rylan's Heart Surgery Journey

- My name is Shannon Haney McClure and recently my daughter and her husband, who are first-time parents, received the news that no parent-to-be wants to hear. Our sweet little Rylan has been diagnosed with not one but two heart defects: Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome and Double Outlet Right Ventricle Syndrome. This means that Rylan will have to have multiple open-heart surgeries in Birmingham, AL.
Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome is a rare heart defect present at birth (congenital). In this condition, the left side of the heart is extremely underdeveloped. If a baby is born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, the left side of the heart can't pump blood well. Instead, the right side of the heart must pump blood to the lungs and to the rest of the body.
Double Outlet Right Ventricle (DORV) is a congenital heart defect where both the aorta and the pulmonary artery originate from the right ventricle, rather than the aorta arising from the left ventricle and the pulmonary artery from the right ventricle. This abnormality results in the mixing of oxygen-rich and oxygen-poor blood within the heart, leading to insufficient oxygen delivery to the body.
Peyton and Anthony will be delivering Rylan in Birmingham, AL at UAB The Children's Hospital. Rylan will have the first open-heart surgery a week after birth, and we are told to be prepared to be in Birmingham for at least 2 months after birth before he is released to come home. When he is 4-6 months old, he will have the next open-heart surgery and another stay in Birmingham for about 2 months. Then he will have another surgery between the ages of 3-5.
As you know, expenses with a newborn are already costly, but adding having your child 4 hours away from home and being there for 2 months, and then 2 months later you will be back in the hospital for another 2 months, makes this a financial burden on any parents. Anthony is not going to want to be away from Peyton and Rylan while Rylan is recovering, and Peyton is not going to be able to go back to work during the first year of Rylan's life. He will not be able to go to daycare due to the germs and viruses, as any little virus would be critical for Rylan.
We know times are already hard on everyone, but if you can donate any amount, it would be greatly appreciated. As the house note, car note, insurance, utilities, and so on keep coming monthly with the extra expenses for traveling multiple times to Birmingham, hotel stay, food, and you get the point. We are wanting to raise anywhere between $20,000 - $30,000 to be able to keep up with the household expenses, along with the added expenses of being away from home and not being able to work. We greatly appreciate your help, and we ask that you please put Rylan on your prayer list and ask your church, small group, and friends to pray for Rylan and to heal his heart. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts; we are so very grateful for your help.
