Garrett and Ruta embarked on the adventure of a lifetime last November to chase their dreams and raise their son, Ryder, in the beautiful, wide open spaces of Montana.

Life has thrown them a curveball and they will now be walking a new journey to support little Ryder as he battles Stage B Retinoblastoma.

Ryder was diagnosed with Stage B Retinoblastoma on September 26, 2022, then this diagnosis was confirmed by the Children’s Hospital in Denver on October 5, 2022. This is a rare form of cancer in the eyes, which primarily occurs in children 5 and younger. Treatment will require frequent trips to Colorado (to the Children’s Hospital in Denver) to undergo chemo, MRIs, ultrasounds and blood tests and require overnight stays in the PICU. These treatments will begin quickly- starting on Wednesday October 12, just one day before Ryder turns 10 months old.

Ryder’s team of doctors are very hopeful and believe that they will be able to save his eye and possibly part of his vision in the eye affected.

This has been quite a whirlwind of worry and stress for Garrett and Ruta and any funds raised here will go towards helping ease the financial burden of getting to and from Ryder’s treatments and hospital stays, as well as medical expenses that have begun accruing.
