Ryan has poured his heart, time, and soul into building his sushi restaurant—not just as a business, but as a place where people feel welcome, connected, and cared for. Unfortunately, due to a tragic and unexpected shooting at the building complex, the restaurant has been forced to close temporarily. While we are deeply grateful that Ryan and his staff are safe, the closure has placed a sudden and heavy financial burden on him and the business he’s worked so hard to build.

Emotionally, during the heat of the moment, Ryan set himself aside to help others, making sure everyone was safe before thinking of himself. He even carried a scared little girl out of his restaurant during the incident, putting the safety of others first. The aftermath has caused immense stress, worry, and concern, as he has never faced a situation like this before. It hurts his heart to be away from the restaurant for so long, especially because he feels the Evergreen community depends on him to provide genuine care and nourishment to everyone who walks through his door. Personally, it has been a struggle to get by with non-existent savings from slow business, and he is struggling to find a source of income while insurance is unable to provide the full loss of wages and damages to his restaurant.

Ryan has remained closed for this duration because it has only been 5 months since the Evergreen High School shooting. With all good intent, he wanted to protect the families that went through that hard time from getting PTSD looking at the boarded up windows, reminding them that a shooting happened here. He understands nothing is set in stone and life always has its obstacles, and having a business is no different. Despite these challenges, Ryan remains confident that the Evergreen community will stand by his side and support him through this uncertainty. He is determined to carry on the Sushi Win legacy, making it more than just a family restaurant, and continuing his mission to be deeply connected and involved with the community he loves.

This fundraiser is meant to help cover ongoing expenses while the restaurant remains closed—rent, utilities, payroll obligations, and recovery costs—so that when it is safe to do so, the doors can reopen and the community can once again enjoy the space Ryan created with so much passion. If you’re able to donate, share, or send words of encouragement, it truly means more than we can express. Every bit of support helps keep this dream alive during an incredibly difficult time. Thank you for standing with Ryan and the Win family, supporting small businesses, and showing what community really means.
