Support Ryan's Recovery Journey
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Kristen Mier, and I am reaching out on behalf of Asa and Dacia Bingham.
Asa and Dacia are currently facing a parent's worst nightmare. Their youngest daughter, Ryan, who turned 3 in July, suffered a stroke on Friday, September 6th. The stroke occurred due to a blood clot passing through a PFO in her heart, which then traveled to the left side of her brain. The doctors are still uncertain about the duration of the blood flow disruption and the cause of the clot. Thankfully, by the grace of God, Ryan is breathing on her own and making progress each day. However, she has lost all mobility on the right side of her body and is currently undergoing extensive treatment and therapy to help her regain strength for daily activities.
Ryan has already overcome many challenges in her short life and is a true fighter, making her family proud as a member of the neurodiverse community.
Currently, Ryan is being treated at a local children’s hospital in Washington but is scheduled to be transferred to Seattle Children’s Hospital early next week. There, she will receive in-depth inpatient rehabilitation to help her regain strength on her right side. The medical team estimates that she will remain in Seattle for 6-8 weeks, depending on her progress and determination.
Asa and Dacia live over an hour from Seattle and will be taking turns commuting while also caring for their eldest daughter, Carsyn, who will turn 8 in November.
Asa is an Army E7 with 12 years of honorable service, including a combat tour in Afghanistan. Although the Army covers medical expenses, other out-of-pocket costs are already adding up and will continue to accumulate as Ryan is transferred from the ICU. Being stationed far from family and friends makes this time particularly isolating for them.
Please consider contributing to support this family and alleviate some of their financial burdens. I have witnessed the power of prayer and ask that you join me in praying for Ryan’s safety and recovery.
