Hi friends! It pains me to even write this however, the reality is we do need help. Several sound, trusted, voices of reason have convinced me that it's ok to ask for some help even if I don't want to. Even if not financial, an abundance of prayer is also needed and overly appreciated. We have already received a great deal of blessings towards his treatment from family, friends, and loved ones. God has been showing UP through the most beautiful people! We truly love you all and have been so overwhelmed by your generosity.
Many of you know that my husband Ryan was diagnosed with Colorectal Cancer in 2020. Because we have been battling privately what most do not know is that in 2022 his cancer metastasized to his lungs and Doctors informed us that he would have approximately 4 more years of life with Chemotherapy. We've never accepted that as truth! We walked away from the chemotherapy after 17 rounds that kept Ryan ill and in bed. We decided to walk in faith, enjoy our children, and focus on living not dying.
Unfortunately we've recently had to face a devastating reality: In the United States, he has been told that only palliative care remains- care focused on comfort, not cure. They won't/can't even make an attempt to save the life of a very loved 47 year old father of two.
There is still hope - but it lies outside of the U.S., in specialized treatment options that can extend and possibly save Ryan's life. These treatments are not covered, and accessing them requires significant travel, coordination, and great financial resources.
If you've ever known the love of a parent, bond of a family, or the determination to hold on, then you understand what this fight means. Ryan has never been defined by his diagnosis. He is defined by his love of God, his strength in faith, his love for his children, and an absolute refusal to give up on God's promises.
Every donation will go toward giving Ryan a chance - a chance to pursue treatment, a chance to create more memories with his children and family, a chance to keep fighting!
On March 22nd he and I traveled to Mexico, got settled in, and he started treatments right away. Dr. Rubio is a breath of fresh air! He's humble yet confident and for the first time in this very long journey we were speaking to a doctor that isn't time stamping my husband's life. A doctor who has saved the lives of many people with terminal illness, several of which we have met and heard their testimonies. Rubio's optimism coupled with some already significant improvements in Ryan since he's been there gives us great hope in the miracle we already believe is taking place. He is able to walk again, breathe again, and starting to feel like himself again. He is in his 5th week of treatment and this treatment is averaging 20k a week. I know ... it's a lot. We don't know for sure how long his treatment will be, but the numbers of importance in his bloodwork are dropping, his x-rays are showing more room, and Dr. Rubio told Ryan to tell me his tumors are dying! We are heading in the right direction! Unfortunately though, budgeting for cancer treatment in another country was never on our to do list.
We have a steep mountain but through prayer and people, God has continued to move it and every lil bit helps us climb. If you're able to contribute to Ryan's journey either financially or prayerfully we will forever be indebted in our hearts. God willing, we will spend the rest of our lives continuing to pay it forward.
We love you all! I will keep everyone updated on all the GOOD NEWS as it comes in!
