My name is Ryan Van Dusen, and I’ve been unable to work since June 2025 after being diagnosed with melanoma on my head. I started chemotherapy on January 8, 2026, and while I’m hopeful for the best, the journey has been incredibly tough. In the months since my diagnosis, I’ve used up my savings and maxed out my credit cards just to keep up with daily expenses and medical costs. Some of my medications and specialist doctor visits aren’t covered by insurance, which has made things even more challenging.
This situation has taken a toll on my family. I feel like I’m letting them down by not being able to contribute to our everyday needs. My loved ones have already been through so much, watching my health decline and worrying about my well-being. My kids are always on edge, hoping I don’t have more episodes. The stress has also led to new health issues for me, including hypoglycemia and a host of new food allergies—11 out of 16 on a recent food panel. My body and immune system are overworked and starting to fail, and it’s been hard to keep up with everything.
Any support you can offer would mean the world to us. Your help will go directly toward uncovered medical expenses, specialist visits, and daily living costs, giving me the chance to focus on my health and provide some relief for my family. Thank you for reading my story and for any support you can give during this difficult time.
