Ryan O’Toole, my cousin, was diagnosed with Stage 3A High Grade Myxoinflammatory Fibroblastic Sarcoma (MIFs) with VGLL3 amplification in mid September of this year. Because this type of sarcoma is so rare and complex, Ryan and his family made the difficult decision to seek specialized care at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. After a thorough evaluation, his doctors determined that surgery was necessary to remove the tumor in his arm, which took place in early November.
While the surgery was a critical step, Ryan’s journey is far from over. His treatment plan now requires approximately seven weeks of radiation at MSK to significantly reduce the odds of the cancer returning. This means Ryan will need to make multiple trips to New York, spending extended time away from his two young boys, his work, and the comfort of home. The emotional and financial toll of this journey is immense, with travel and medical expenses quickly adding up, and many costs not covered by insurance.
The funds raised through this campaign will help Ryan cover travel expenses, medical bills, and support his family while he is away receiving treatment. Any help is greatly appreciated from both Ryan and his family as he goes through this extremely difficult time. Your support will make a real difference in helping Ryan focus on his recovery and being there for his loved ones.
