Support Ryan Carfley's Long Road to Recovery

As many of you know, Ryan's life changed in the blink of an eye when he was struck by a drunk driver. Ryan was sitting on the curb waiting for his Uber when the driver drove up onto the sidewalk, striking Ryan and the young woman he was with.

Ryan sustained life-threatening injuries and was immediately transported to the hospital. His first initial surgery was to control his internal bleeding and make him stable. Ryan's pelvis was fractured in five places, his lower spine was fractured in two places, and his Urethra was severed.

After eight hours of surgery for his pelvis and spine, Ryan was transported via private jet to Walter Reed Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. He is healing and progressing on schedule. Right now, he is still bound to his bed for another three weeks to make sure that his pelvis fuses completely. After that, he will start to sit up, then move to the edge of his bed, then work his way up to walking again. This whole process will take 4-6 months.

Currently, he is also scheduled to have gallbladder removal surgery due to his internal functions not improving. Once he has recovered and healed from this along with his previous surgeries, he will have yet another one to reattach his Urethra.

Ryan Carfley is selfless in all things he does, with his love and loyalty to his family, friends, teammates, and coaches. He excelled at Coker College as a Division II Scholar Athlete in basketball where soon after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army to protect his country. It should be of no surprise that Ryan was recently recognized as a top performer and selected by his Superiors to attend Officer Training School, of which he was scheduled to attend next month, August 2024, in hopes of climbing the ranks.

Ryan's family and friends would like to thank everyone for the continued prayers and positive vibes. We have had many people reaching out asking what they can do to help.

Your support would be greatly appreciated and helpful as he works through his recovery because it is going to be a long road for him. It's hard to predict where adjustments to his life will have to be made to make Ryan more comfortable and thrive in his new normalcy.

We thank you again for being willing to help Ryan with his long road to recovery. Your generosity will make a big difference and is deeply appreciated during this challenging time.
