Support Ruth's Recovery with Steve and Julie

Greetings! We are Steve and Julie Mullins. I’m a pastor at a local church in the community, and my wife is a licensed professional counselor. Our kids are grown and have kids of their own, so we enjoy our time together with our two pups, Ed and Boaz.

Saturday, on our way home from a half marathon race event, we encountered this poor girl in the ditch entering our subdivision. She was too weak to walk on her own to our truck but allowed me to carry her and graciously received an oatmeal cookie and some BBQ, which is all we had with us. We do not need another dog in our home but could not stand the thought of this sweet dog either being hit by a car or starving to death alone on the side of the road. We have taken her in, and after 24 hours, we are beginning to see some energy in her. God has blessed us greatly to be able to nurse her back to health on our own. My wife is at the vet currently for some bloodwork and testing for heartworm, etc. She will also need fluids and potentially steroids and antibiotics. We would like to open this up to anyone else who cares for animals the way we do to help this poor pup out. We have tried to locate her owner locally but have not heard from anyone. We are happy to foster her for as long as it takes to become healthy. Understandably, no one seems to be interested in taking her on in her current state. We are accepting any financial help for the immediate and lasting care for “Ruth”. Any proceeds beyond what’s needed for her care will be donated to some of our favorite local pet organizations.
