Support Ruth's Journey to Healing and Stability

Donation protected
Hi everyone,

I’m writing with a heavy heart to share what’s been happening to my mom, Ruth.

On May 25th, 2025, while we were on vacation visiting family in San Jose, California, my mom suddenly suffered a serious brain bleed on the right side of her brain. The bleeding caused full paralysis on the left side of her body. Doctors say the pressure from the bleed is affecting the part of her brain responsible for motor function, and as of now, they’re still unsure if a tumor may have caused it. The MRI scans have been inconclusive so far.

This has been devastating for all of us. My mom is scared—and so am I. Not only is she facing the physical and emotional trauma of this event, but her entire life has changed in an instant.

To make matters more heartbreaking, my mom has been the full-time caretaker for my dad, Larry, who is legally blind. They’ve spent their entire lives as a team, always supporting each other. Now that she’s unable to care for him, and with her own future so uncertain, everything feels upside down.

Right now, she’s stuck in San Jose, unable to travel due to her condition. She’ll need to spend the coming weeks or months in a nursing home, going through physical rehab until she’s stable enough to be transported back to Minnesota. Even then, her journey won’t end—she’ll be moved to a facility in the Twin Cities, which is still about 300 miles away from her and my dad’s home in northern Minnesota.

We’re doing everything we can, but the financial burden is overwhelming: Medical bills are already starting to pile up; Medical transport from California to Minnesota will be incredibly expensive; Regular monthly expenses at home have not stopped, and now there are added costs for rehab and nursing home care. My dad can’t work because of his disability, and without my mom, their only source of stability is gone.

If you know my mom, you know she’s a fighter. She’s survived breast cancer, including a double mastectomy, and most recently beat lung cancer just last year. She’s faced more than most people ever should—but now, she needs help.

I’m asking, from the bottom of my heart, for any support you can offer—whether that’s a donation, a share, a prayer, or a message of encouragement. Every little bit helps. We just want to get her the care she needs and bring her home to the people who love her.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and for supporting our family during the most difficult time of our lives.

With love and gratitude,
Ruth’s Family
