Hello everyone, my name is Krista, and I am Ruthie’s niece.

Our family’s world was turned upside down almost overnight. What began as a routine X-ray for what we thought might be a rib issue quickly became something much more serious. Ruthie was admitted to the hospital and diagnosed with breast cancer that has spread to her bones.

She is currently still hospitalized and dealing with complications including recurring fluid on her lungs and severe pain caused by cancer in her spine affecting her vertebrae. We are in the middle of many tests, difficult decisions, and trying to understand what the road ahead looks like. Her children and grandchildren are traveling from out of state to be with her and support her during this incredibly difficult time.

If you know Ruthie, you know she is a beloved mother, grandmother, and one of the most genuine and sassy people you’ll ever meet. She would give the coat off her back to help anyone in need, and now it’s our turn to help her.

Most importantly, we are asking for prayers. Our family believes deeply in the power of prayer and the miracles God works every day. All the Prayer Warriors needed now more than ever.

Unfortunately, Ruthie will be unable to work for the foreseeable future, and her insurance situation is still being worked out. Ruthie has always lived an independent life, but bills and medical expenses don’t stop during times like these. We are raising funds to help with her medical costs, as well as basic living expenses like rent and daily necessities while she focuses on treatment and healing.
