Support for Russell Gooch: Overcoming Right Parietal Intracranial Hemorrhage with left-sided upper and lower deficits.

We are reaching out to you with a heartfelt request to support Russell Gooch, who is currently battling a severe medical condition. He has been diagnosed with a right parietal intracranial hemorrhage, a type of bleeding in the brain, which has resulted in significant local mass effect. This means the accumulated blood creates pressure on the surrounding brain tissue, leading to severe symptoms and complications.

What Happened?

On May 21, 2024, Russell Gooch was rushed to the hospital (Terrebonne General Health System Emergency Room after experiencing numbness in his left hand and forearm, left-sided weakness, and loss of motor control of his left extremities. The ED staff wasted no time in assessment, and Russell was rushed for a Head CT. After thorough medical examinations, the doctors identified a right parietal intracranial hemorrhage. This condition is critical and requires immediate and intensive medical intervention to manage the bleeding and reduce the pressure on the brain. Russell was airlifted to LCMC, East Jefferson Hospital in Metairie, LA., to be under the care of a neurosurgeon if his condition worsened and needed surgery. After many days in the Neuro ICU and Neuro step-down unit with numerous scans, tests, and PT/ OT evaluations, he was deemed medically stable enough to be transferred back to the Terrebonne General Health System to the inpatient rehab, where he continues to endure intense rehabilitation therapy to recover the regular use of his upper and lower extremities. Russell is a 2X Ironman triathlete finisher, software engineer, and data analyst.

The Road to Recovery

Russell Gooch has already undergone numerous scans, tests, IV and oral medication management, and PT/ OT evaluations, with numerous intense therapy sessions. Despite the medical team's best efforts, he faces a long and challenging recovery journey. This includes intense neuro-specific Physical and Occupational therapies, rehabilitation, and other therapies deemed needed by his care team. Intense Neuro Occupational therapy is critical to regain everyday use of his left-sided extremities, which is vital in his work as a software engineer and data analyst. Rusell must be able to creatively design applications, data visualizations, and complex algorithms and type and enter code on his work computer.
