Help the Russell Orchards Jamaican Crew Rebuild After Hurricane Melissa
Our crew of Jamaican farmworkers, who spend each season working here in Ipswich, MA to support their families back home, are now facing devastating losses in the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa.
While most of the men have been able to reach their families to confirm they are safe, widespread power outages and communication breakdowns have left others anxiously waiting for news. Some still don’t know if their homes — or their loved ones — have made it through the storm.
What we do know is that the destruction across their communities is extensive. Crops and livestock have been wiped out, roads are blocked or destroyed, and access to basic supplies is extremely limited. Recovery will take time, and resources are scarce.
Our goal is to raise funds to help our crew members rebuild their homes, restore their communities, and recover from this disaster with dignity and hope. Every contribution will go directly toward helping them and their families get back on their feet.
Thank you for standing in solidarity with our guys: Boisie, Bobby, Denford, Ivan, Billy, Phillip, Dennis, and Reid.
